Modern Worship

Our 9:00 worship service takes the ancient traditional worship service and has given it a different coat of paint. The bones are still the same for what we do in this praise service. However, it looks and feels different than our traditional worship. Some of the differences are obvious. We sit in chairs instead of pews. Instead of the organ, we have a praise band lead the musical portion of our worship. All of these are significant changes.

One of the more noticeable elements of this worship service is the music that we sing. Our praise band is gifted and talented. As we follow their lead, we are touched by the gift of song. The songs and the voices often linger in our heart long after the final note of worship has rung quiet.

One of the other elements that makes this service unique is that it has a flexible nature in regards to worship elements and design. There are opportunities to worship in a more experiential way with the more capable Audio/Visual nature of the Life Center. There is also more flexibility regarding the flow and shape. For instance, confession–which is a vital part of every communion service–can move beyond the words written in the hymnal. This service can utilize the emotive power of music to aid us in our confession and reflection. The language of this service is more modern and accessible to many as well.

One of the reasons that we offer two different styles of worship is because there are a wide variety of different tastes when it comes to how we worship. Worship is a profoundly personal experience. However, we worship in community because our praise joins with those around us as we lift our prayer and praise to God. So, while worship is personal–it is not private. And, as such, this worship service builds upon the traditions of worship that have been passed on through the ages. However, as we hold these foundational teachings and expressions, we hold them loosely.

Of course, the best way to experience our modern worship is to join us. I would love to have you as our guest this Sunday. Worship starts at 9:00. Come as you are. Leave touched by the Hand of God and washed by His grace. I look forward to seeing you soon!
