Pentecost Worship May 31, 2020

Thank you to all who joined us, in person and online for our worship service this morning. What a blessing it was to be together. Here are the videos from worship. Sadly, the middle of the sermon is cut off due to the cell phone overheating. Even still, the two videos show, almost, the who worship service. May you be blessed by the Holy Spirit as He fills us with life and breathe.

We are excited to be gathering in our parking lot for worship at 10:00am on Sunday.

There are two files that you can download to print at home and bring with you to worship. One is the order of worship and the second file is the lyrics for the hymns and songs we will be singing. This page will contain all of that information as well, however, we wanted to give you the option to participate via this website while in the parking lot as well as printing from home and coming with your own sheets.

Words of Welcome

The Churches One Foundation

The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord
She is His new creation
By water and the Word
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy bride
With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died

Elect from every nation
Yet one o’er all the earth
Her charter of salvation
One Lord one faith one birth
One holy name she blesses
Partakes one holy food
And to one hope she presses
With every grace endued

Though with a scornful wonder
Men see her sore oppressed
By schisms rent asunder
By heresies distressed
Yet saints their watch are keeping
Their cry goes up how long
And soon the night of weeping
Shall be the morn of song

Through toil and tribulation
And tumult of her war
She waits the consummation
Of peace forevermore
Till with the vision glorious
Her longing eyes are blest
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest

Yet she on earth has union
With God the Three in One
And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won
O blessed heavenly chorus!
Lord, save us by your grace,
That we, like saints before us,
May see you face to face.

Opening Litany and Prayer

The Spirit of God has brought us here.
The Lord has set us down here,
though our bones are tired.

Come Holy Spirit

Can these dry bones live?
Yes!  The Breath of God will revive us!

Come Holy Spirit

The Word of God will awaken us!
Today, we come together to experience new life.

Come Holy Spirit

You, oh Holy Spirit have called us here. You revive us. You restore us. You draw us together and send us out to do you will and to be your people. Come Holy Spirit and dwell among us this day. And forever more.

Amen.

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Chorus

My chains are gone I’ve been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love amazing grace

Verse 3

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

Chorus

Verse 4

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Sermon

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Communion

On the way into the parking lot you were given the communion elements. At this time, if you would place them on the dashboard at the front of the car. Pastor Scott will go through the liturgy of Communion and we will partake of this Holy meal together.

Lean On Me

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Chorus

Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Chorus

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
I’ll share your load
If you just call me (call me)
If you need a friend (call me)

Closing Prayer/Blessing

A Mighty Fortress is our God

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
A Sword And Shield Victorious
He Breaks The Cruel Oppressor’s Rod
And Wins Salvation Glorious
The Old Satanic Foe
Has Sworn To Work Us Woe
With Craft And Dreadful Might
He Arms Himself To Fight
On Earth He Has No Equal

No Strength Of Ours Can Match His Might
We Would Be Lost Rejected
But Now A Champion Comes To Fight
Whom God Himself Elected
You Ask Who This May Be
The Lord Of Hosts Is He
Christ Jesus Mighty Lord
God’s Only Son Adored
He Holds The Field Victorious

Though Hordes Of Devils Fill The Land
All Threat’ning To Devour Us
We Tremble Not Unmoved We Stand
They Cannot Overpow’r Us
Let This World’s Tyrant Rage
In Battle We’ll Engage
His Might Is Doomed To Fail
God’s Judgment Must Prevail
One Little Word Subdues Him

God’s Word Forever Shall Abide
No Thanks To Foes Who Fear It
For God Himself Fights By Our Side
With Weapons Of The Spirit
Were They To Take Our House
Goods Honor Child Or Spouse
Though Life Be Wrenched Away
They Cannot Win The Day
The Kingdom’s Ours Forever

Postlude by Dr. Pat

As you return home, we ask that you pass under the Porte Cochere. It will be a different type of receiving line than we are used to, but Pastor Scott will be there to say goodbye.

Also, as you leave the parking lot there will be a place for you to leave your offering. We can’t say enough how blessed Prince of Peace continues to be by your generous support of our ministries. Thank You!
