Welcome to Worship this morning. We are so glad that you have joined us–in our parking lot, live on facebook, or via the video below posted after worship. Today we are excited to celebrate with our students and teachers as we bless them at the start of another school year.
Here is the Video from Worship
In Christ There is No East or West
In Christ there is no east or west,
In Him no south or north,
But one great fellowship of love
Throughout the whole wide earth
In him shall true hearts everywhere
Their high communion find;
His service is the golden cord
Close binding all mankind
Join hands then, brothers of the faith,
Whate’er your race may be.
Who serves my Father as a son
Is surely kin to me
In Christ now meet both east and west,
In him meet south and north;
All Christly souls are one in him
Throughout the whole wide earth
Call to Worship from Psalm 67
As we gather for worship we cry out to our Father in heaven
Shine your Face upon us, O Lord
You have promised that when we gather in your name, you are among us, and so we ask
Shine your Face upon us, O Lord
You promise to draw all nations to yourself, that we might all sing for joy. Together. But we are not there yet. We are divided. We are broken. We are trapped in darkness. We need you, Jesus. And so we cry out.
Shine your Face upon us, O Lord
We need your mercy, Almighty God. We depend upon your grace. Restore us to the blessed unity found in your Garden that all might gather and praise your name. Until that day, illuminate our paths with the light of your presence.
Shine your Face upon us, O Lord
May God be gracious to us and bless us. May He make his way known. Let the peoples praise you, O God! Let all the peoples praise you!
Shine your Face upon us, O Lord
Fear is a Liar
When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough
(Oh) Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar
When he told you were troubled
You’ll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You’ll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change
Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel
Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel
Confession
Learning to be the Light
When the stars came crashing down
In tiny pieces to the ground
I was all alone down here
Trapped beneath the atmosphere
Then I thought somebody called my name
I spun around and caught a flame
I gave into a God I didn’t know
And now everything is falling into place
A brand new life is calling
And I owe it all to grace
It’s so much brighter living in Your world
Savior what You did for me
You gave me something I want everyone to see
When we stumble and it all goes wrong
Only You can make it right
So I say oh
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
When a heart is cold as ice
You can’t melt it with advice
No one wants to listen to
A list of things they shouldn’t do
So I build a city on a hill
And I light a candle on the sill
Knowing You’ll be always knocking at the door
Oh God I just want to love on everyone
All I have is Yours to give
So let the people come
Bridge
I’m learning to be the light
That makes the shadows hide
The light that breaks the curse of pride
The light that takes the weary in its arms
When it all came crashing down
There was only darkness all around
But in the distance I could see a flame
It’s so much brighter living in Your world
Savior what You did for me
You gave me something I want everyone
And I mean everyone to see
When we stumble and it all goes wrong
Only You can make it right
So I say oh
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
I’m learning to be the light whoa whoa
I’m learning to be the light

Sermon
Let Love Win
Lord Your love builds bridges that can not be burned
It speaks truth that can not be learned
It’s a treasure we can never earn
It goes places we’re afraid of going
It’s not a fist it’s a hand wide open
Reaching out to the down and broken
We believe Your love is the strongest way
You’re tearing down walls and You break our chains
Even in this darkness hope will rise again
When we lay down our weapons we will let love win
(Lord we lay down our weapons and we let love win)
Lord Your love is a friend to its enemies
It takes a hit then turns a cheek
You laid down Your life for peace
Love won’t cast a single stone
It’s never proven by words alone
You come alive in our flesh and bones
And in our souls
What if fighting for our beliefs
Looks more like surrendering
Though that’s the hardest thing
And what if standing up for what’s right
Means laying down our pride
Even laying down our lives

Prayers of the People
Benediction
There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy
There’s a wideness in God’s Mercy,
Like the wideness of the sea;
There’s a kindness in his justice
Which is more than liberty.
There is no place where earth’s sorrows
Are more felt than up in heav’n.
There is no place where earth’s failings
Have such kindly judgment given.
There is welcome for the sinner,
And a promised grace made good;
There is mercy with the Savior;
There is healing in his blood.
There is grace enough for thousands
Of new worlds as great as this;
There is room for fresh creations
In that upper home of bliss
For the love of God is broader
Than the measurers of our mind;
And the heart of the eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.
There is plentiful redemption
In the blood that has been shed;
There is joy for all the members
In the sorrow of the head.
’Tis not all we owe to Jesus;
It is something more than all:
Greater good because of evil,
Larger mercy through the fall.
If our love were but more simple,
We should take him at his word;
And our lives would be all sunshine
In the sweetness of our Lord.
Postlude by Dr. Pat
As you return home, we ask that you pass under the Porte Cochere. It will be a different type of receiving line than we are used to, but Pastor Scott will be there to say goodbye.
Also, as you leave the parking lot there will be a place for you to leave your offering. We can’t say enough how blessed Prince of Peace continues to be by your generous support of our ministries. Thank You!
