Worship for July 12th, 2020

We are excited to be gathering in our parking lot for worship at 9:00am on Sunday.

And we are blessed to have Pastor Kollmeyer lead us through worship today as well. Welcome back Pastor Kollmeyer!!

There are two files that you can download to print at home and bring with you to worship. One is the order of worship and the second file is the lyrics for the hymns and songs we will be singing. This page will contain all of that information as well, however, we wanted to give you the option to participate via this website while in the parking lot as well as printing from home and coming with your own sheets.

WORDS OF WELCOME

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty! God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee, Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, Though the eye made blind by sin thy glory may not see, Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, Perfect in pow’r, in love and purity.

Opening Litany and Prayer

P: Almighty God, Your Word is cast like seed into the ground
C: Now let the dew of heaven descend and righteous fruits abound.

Let not the sly satanic foe this Holy Seed remove,
But give it root in every heart to bring forth fruits of love.

Let not the world’s deceitful cares the rising plant destroy,
But let it yield a hundred-fold the fruits of peace and joy.

So when the precious seed is sown, Your quickening Grace bestow,
That all whose souls the truth receive, its saving power make known. (LBW, 234)

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood, From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure, Cleanse me from its guilt and power.

Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress, Helpless, look to Thee for grace: Foul, I to the fountain fly, Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath, When mine eyeflids close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee.

Confession

The Word of God

Isaiah 55:10-13

Beautiful Savior

Beautiful Savior, King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love thee, Truly I’d serve thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.

Fair are the meadows, Fairer the woodlands, Robed in the flowers of blooming spring; Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer.
He makes the sorrowing spirit sing.

Fair is the sunshine, Fairer the moonlight Bright the sparkling stars on high; Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.

Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be thine!

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

Sermon

Almighty God, Your Word is Cast

Almighty God, Your Word is cast like seed into the ground Now let the dew of heaven descend and righteous fruits abound.

Let not the sly satanic foe this Holy Seed remove, But give it root in every heart to bring forth fruits of love.

Let not the world’s decei\ul cares the rising plant destroy, But let it yield a hundred-fold the fruits of peace and joy.

So when the precious seed is sown, Your quickening Grace bestow, That all whose souls the truth receive, its saving power make known.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Communion

Onward, Christian Soldiers

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle, see, his banners go!

Refrain:

Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Like a mighty army moves the Church of God; Let us boldly follow where the saints have trod.
We are not divided; all one body we; One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Refrain:

Onward, then, you faithful, join our happy throng; Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King.
We through countless ages with the angels sing:

Refrain:

Closing Prayer/Blessing

Postlude by Dr. Pat

As you return home, we ask that you pass under the Porte Cochere. It will be a different type of receiving line than we are used to, but Pastor Scott will be there to say goodbye.

Also, as you leave the parking lot there will be a place for you to leave your offering. We can’t say enough how blessed Prince of Peace continues to be by your generous support of our ministries. Thank You!
