“I’ve come that they might have life, and have it to the fullest…” ~ Jesus
I often quote this verse because I think it encapsulates the “why” of Jesus. Simon Sinek’s book “Start with Why” unlocks the power of the reason behind what we do and how we do it. Answering Why we do things energizes and is crucial in motivating us to act. Bringing fullness of life is Jesus’ why. It motivates His actions and informs His obedience—the obedience that led to His crucifixion and death. He died so you would have a full life. Life—it is worth living.
November is a month focused on life. Four elements will help to shape our worship life together.
November 7th is All Saints Sunday. Perhaps it is ironic to mention abundant life on a day we remember our loved ones who have died. And yet, All Saint’s Sunday is a celebration of lives well lived and the promise of eternal life that draws us forward in faith.
November 11th is Veterans’ Day. We will celebrate it in worship on November 14th. It is important to pause and give thanks to those who have served our country to help preserve our way of life here in the United States of America.
The Declaration of Independence does not give us the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These rights are granted to us by the Lord Almighty. Veterans’ Day is worthy of our celebration because it honors those who fought to defend these rights. Due to their service and defense of these rights, the whole of our country has the opportunity to pursue abundant life.
November 14th is also Organ Donor Sunday. People from within our congregation have been the recipients of organ donation as well as the ones who bless others through donated organs. Did you know that 1 organ donor can save up to eight lives? Join us as we hear from one family who have been blessed through organ donation. Truly, it is a gift of life.
Finally, the big celebration of Life in November is our annual call to return our thanks to the Almighty for the gifts He gives. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to recognize God’s almighty hand of blessing in your life. How will you give thanks?
I hope you will join us for all or part of our journey into life. It really is the thing that Jesus desires for you above all else. He went to the cross so you could live with Him. Forever. Let’s celebrate life together.
