It shines in the dark. Calms fears. Shows the way. Encapsulates you in the warmth of its glow. Light always wins. It breeds hope.
December has landed on our doorstep. It rushes in with joy and anticipation. The sights, sounds, and smells of December bring enough nostalgia to direct their own Hallmark movie. And we love this time of year for this. But, this month also brings some unwanted sidekicks: the traffic, the crowds, and stressors of the seasons—and for some, heartbreak and sadness. And, in true Christmas fashion, these Scrooge’s are wrapped up with a beautiful bow—darkness. By the time you are reading this, the sun seems to be setting at 3:32 in the afternoon. The creep of darkness closes in earlier and earlier. The only respite is the beauty of the twinkling lights that adorn our homes and neighborhoods.
This tradition of hanging lights outside and inside our homes is the ultimate foreshadowing. For each of these little bulbs is a sentinel against the suffocating darkness. These lights remind us that a greater light is right around the corner. Christmas reminds us of the light of the world that comes as a babe in a manger. Advent, however, reminds us that this babe in a manger has grown up, defeated death on the cross, announced His victory in the empty tomb, and is coming back again. Advent retells of the promise—Jesus is coming back. So, get ready!
To grow as disciples of Jesus this December, Prince of Peace is putting together a number of different opportunities for us to be together, to learn together, and to grow together.
Advent Worship every Wednesday at Noon.
And in the evening join us on December 1st, 8th, and 15th for an Advent Soup Supper starting at 5:30.

Come and experience three key bible stories come alive, and engage in meaningful conversation that connects God’s Word to your life. It will be a time where the wisdom of the elder meets the wonder of the child —and maybe the reverse too. It’s new. It’s different. It’s three weeks.
